The story of how Lady Darkmoon and her allies vanquished Dastrk of Parafax reached Copper Cove quickly. The epicness of all of it was hardly believable, but Dianne knew her Cameron had helped greatly in the process, though his new powers sounded scary. When did he learn to summon an army of hellhounds? Her worry grew, and she quickly set off East, to find this great city Grograt’s Holdfast, and hopefully her beloved Cameron.
She journeyed for a month, quickly by horseback, and arrived on the first of Wax, only to learn that the Heroes had departed four weeks ago. Despaired, she went to the great Temple of Bregnan, the goddess whom Cameron had followed. There, she prayed and wept, hoping to see him again. A kind Magister said that Cameron had helped save them all from an assault a few weeks earlier, and she felt a bit better, but still longed to see him, and to make sure he was OK.
The Magister spent a few days with her, teaching her prayers and guiding her toward the eerie green light of Bregnan. On the sixth, he asked her to fully give herself to the mercy of the Goddess, and when she submitted her soul, she was sucked out of her body, flew up the waterfall and winked out of this realm of existence.
She came to in a realm of swirling magics, with a great green energy hovering over a grand throne. Elementals worship the energy, and a Xorn turns to her and says, “Lady Dianne, mistress Bregnan has heard your prayers, and wishes you to see your Cameron again, for he is not well.” Dianne’s worry increases hundredfold. “His task, though, need be completed in Bregnan’s eyes, and she asks you take his place with his compatriots.”
“He’s not well? What is the matter?” Dianne asks.
“His excessive contact with planes not of mortal understanding warped his essence. He has already suffered a great painful explosion of energy that reshaped his very body into that of an Ogari. His powers are ever shifting, and mistress Bregnan feels that if left with the power inside him, he will eventually consume his allies and causing the world to fall into darkness.”
Dianne seems hesitant, “But I heard he gained some fell power not held by mortals.”
The Xorn nods, “Yes, and right now that power is the only thing holding him in your reality. Mistress Bregnan can command similar power and can imbue it into you, removing his chaos, and hopefully sparing his soul from a painful destruction.”
Saddened, Dianne looks resolved. “Tell me what I must do to save him.”
“Not just him, but the whole world.” An Azer steps forward, a flaming book open at hand. “It all started with an amulet belonging to a Demonlord…”
